School Furniture For Teaching And Learning

Submitted by: Melody N. Andes

School furniture completes the physical make up of any learning environment. A classroom, laboratory, office, canteen, play area, and even the outside vicinity of the school should have proper benches. Schools are made possible to promote quality education. But, without the appropriate supplies, learning is never possible. Aside from the presence of textbooks, whiteboards, lightings, and school appliances, a wide array of furniture is also needed. This can be a working table, stool or chair, long bench, and more. There are options to choose from. The school authority has the power to choose what they want as chairs and tables. But, most of the time, their choices are based on the classroom set-up. Long tables and chairs are fit in science laboratories since learners often perform science experiments and activities. Arm chairs are fit to classrooms so learners can write, draw or answer exams conveniently. Benches are fit outdoor like in the garden. Shelves on the other hand can be used to keep files.

School furniture affects both the teaching and learning process. How would a teacher make his lesson plan and compute grades without any table to work on? He can t simply stand while doing such things. On the other hand, classrooms wherein almost all activities happen need the right furniture. Each student must have his own chair so he becomes more confident to be present in school. With his personal chair, a learner can learn conveniently. He can accomplish daily learning activities. He can write as fast as he can or answer test questionnaires. He can take down notes whenever he thinks of doing it. He can draw and make sketches. He can even put into writing whatever he feels inside. See? School furniture does not only fill in the spaces inside an empty classroom. It is no doubt useful in any possible way. It makes every activity a lot lighter.

Teachers can take care of their day-to-day tasks if they have all that they need. School furniture allows them to be more functional. They don t need to stand while writing lessons for the next day. They can sit down whenever they are watching pupils answer their exams. They can also take a rest conveniently during breaks in preparation for the next class. Teachers at the end of the day feel tired. Why? They need to do so many things. They do lectures, demonstrate activities, assist experiments, write, read, analyze problems, make visual aids, and more. So, without the proper furniture, doing these things can be a lot harder. Learning on the other hand requires the intervention of school furniture. Students can have the best time in school. If they need to plan on certain activities, they don t need to stand the whole time. They can simply sit down and plan. To make it more comfortable, chairs and tables should be arranged properly. Arrange them in such a way that everyone is seen. Make it look like a round table discussion.

Truly, school furniture influence the teaching and learning process. They provide something in which the other supplies cannot. They provide a whole lot convenience.
